Our story
Every business has a beginning. The Calzone Sporthorse story began with owner, Julie Calzone’s passion for horses. As a competitive rider she started her horse business while owning and running an advertising, PR, events and strategic planning firm.
She purchased her first European sport horse when she accompanied her friend who was shopping for a warmblood. Wunschtraum, a Hanoverian by Woermann, was her first young horse from Germany. The two had an immediate connection and he was green broke. That lead to acquiring two others by Woermann, one who was sold and the other who became the foundation mare for her breeding program. America produce amazing foals and Julie kept one, New Louisiana, to carry on the mother line. She kept one mare from each generation to continue that line.
She has been involved with the national federation with dressage judge training and exams along with sponsoring past Olympic team show jumping trials.
After a long time competing, she still rides and accompanies her horses to shows. She enjoys training and raising the young ones.
